Example 1
I tribute "Sangan" with "Enemy Controller", and you chain "D.D. Crow", targeting Sangan. Sangan still resolves.
It doesn't matter where the monster ends up - it can still activate its effect.
Example 2
I activate "Mystical Space Typhoon" targeting your set "Call of the Haunted". You chain Call, targeting "Sacred Crane" in your GY.
Call Summons Crane, and then Space Typhoon destroys Call which destroys Crane.
On a new Chain, Sacred Crane's effect still activates, and you draw a card. It doesn't matter where the monster ends up - it can still activate its effect.
