Substep 1: Start of the Damage Step

- Effects that specifically state “Damage Calculation” activate/apply now.
- Monster Effect that can be activated During the Damage Step.

Substep 5: After Damage Calculation
Calculate damage and if monsters should be destroyed (they are not yet sent to GY).
Afterwards, apply effects that did not affect ATK/DEF of a monster (e.g. Berserk Gorilla).
Effects that state if this card inflicts battle damage activate now.
Quick Effects and Spells/Traps that affect ATK/DEF may NOT be activated.

Substep 6: Resolve Effects
Monsters marked as “destroyed by battle” no longer apply their continuous effects.
